About Virtual Innovation Academy

Don Tyson School of Innovation

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Virtual Innovation Academy at Don Tyson School of Innovation in Springdale was established in 2014 for grades 6 through 12 as part of the original founding charter of Don Tyson School of Innovation. Currently, the program serves students in Springdale Public Schools, throughout Northwest Arkansas and the state in grades Kindergarten - 12th.

Don Tyson School of Innovation is an in-district, public charter conversion school with multiple, personalized learning pathways, including both full virtual and blended options. Highly qualified Springdale Schools’ teachers report daily to the on-site Virtual Innovation Academy lab at DTSOI. VIA students in grades 6-12 have full access to DTSOI activities, special events and innovation days (iTime) on the main school campus.

VIA DTSOI brings learning home by providing students the ability to flex their course access options and schedule while still receiving assistance from certified, highly qualified Springdale teachers. This is an ideal option for students who prefer a smaller learning environment, one-on-one communication with teachers, and the ability to choose when and where they work on their courses.
