Free/Reduced Lunch forms are due back by Friday, September 24th. Even though students are getting free breakfast and lunch through the USDA this year, these forms help our district gain access to hundreds of services for all students. Did you know that the law only requires one nurse per district? That would be 1 nurse for 21,000 kids! I know I am personally thankful that each school has a full-time nurse. Also, SROs and student technology devices are funded through this program. If you think you might qualify, please fill the form out online or call the office to get a form sent home! We are excited to have Holly Johnson join our team as a second grade teacher at B.Y.E. Mrs. Johnson said, “I started my teaching career in Springdale at Lee Elementary where I taught every grade except 5th. I am very excited to start this new chapter at Bernice Young Elementary! I look forward to building new friendships and relationships with staff, students, and families.” Mrs. Johnson has one daughter, Alice, who will be at Young in the 3rd grade. She is also looking forward to this new adventure! For fun, Mrs. Johnson loves a good book and a binge-worthy Netflix documentary. Her family and her love the beach and vacation in Florida every summer!
